  The commitment by the Hon. Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Abdul Razak is testimony to the fact that Malaysia takes a serious view on Global Warming, Carbon emission, Renewable energy, Fossil fuel and all issues that may impact future generations.

As reported on December 17; the Hon Prime Minister of Malaysia has committed to "a voluntary reduction of 40% intensity of GDP, by the year 2020 compared to 2005 levels," he said in his speech at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009. It is not this commitment but also his commitment to encourage energy industry players to pursue a course of action to seek renewable sources of energy.

These commitments energised the purpose to hold an ASEAN Conference on Energy 2010, Innovation and Sustainable Development. It can be said; this Conference will encourage a cohesive regional approach to energy innovation and cooperative.
